Courses 2016-17

York Diocese now runs its own School of Ministry that offers higher education accredited and non–accredited theology and ministry programmes and courses, at venues across the Diocese.  

York School of Ministry (YSOM) offers a range of courses that are designed specifically to support discipleship and formation for ministry and are likely to be of interest to a wide variety of people, from those wishing to develop their basic understanding of the Bible and their faith through to Reader and clergy continuing ministerial development.

Courses available from September 2016 include...

What We Believe and Why it Matters – a 10 week course in basic Christian Theology
Suitable for those wishing to develop their faith understanding and continuing development for Recognised Parish Assistants.  

 Introduction to the New Testament – a 12 week course
Suitable for those wishing to develop their biblical literacy and continuing development for Recognised Parish Assistants.  

Exploring your Call to Ministry
Designed for those who are in the process of discerning and testing a call to Lay or Ordained ministry within the Church of England

Certificate or Diploma in Theology, Mission and Ministry - 6 or 12 modules
These modules form part of the formation programme for licensed lay ministers and are also available to Recognised Parish Assistants and those wishing to study for interest, running alongside this is the Exploring your Call, discernment programme, which comprises 3 or 6 certificate level modules.

Graduate Diploma in Theology, Mission and Ministry - 6 modules
Available to those who already have a foundation degree or diploma in theology or a degree in another subject and are suitable for Reader and Clergy CMD and those wishing to study for interest.
