Strensall, St Mary the Virgin

A very warm welcome to St Mary the Virgin

Our Mission is “…to worship, praise and thank God through our saviour Jesus Christ. To be ambassadors of Christ’s peace and love in the community”.

At St Mary’s we have a very mixed congregation, with a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Worship: we cater for all styles of worship from the Traditional Book of Common Prayer to ‘charismatic’ worship.

Worship at St Mary's:

Every Sunday at:
8:00am - Holy Communion: Simple Communion Service with no hymns

Every Sunday at:
9:30am - Holy Communion: Traditional Sung Eucharist with organ and hymns

Every Sunday at:
11:00am - Together @ 11: Informal Service with Junior Church with worship songs

Please note that service arrangements are different on every 3rd Sunday as follows:

8.00am - Holy Communion

10.00am - Morning Worship with a focus on baptisms and welcoming families who come to have their children baptized.

Cafe Church is also held on the Saturday before each 3rd Sunday.  This is an informal time together when we share faith, food and fun. (visit our church website for up to date details).

Church home-groups meet regularly and offer a safe environment for Church growth.  Every home-group works on 4 core principles that of welcome, worship, word, witness.  Issues explored include faith and faith related issues; exploring our spiritual gifts and testing our vocation and calling.

Our community activities include Little Fishes, a carer group and toddler group for pre-school children of all ages and Kidz Klub every Monday at the Robert Wilkinson Academy for children of Primary School age.  We also run a community cafe every Wednesday between 9.00am and 12noon.

St Mary’s is a Fairtrade Church.
