Christenings

A Christening is the first step on an amazing journey with God, parents, godparents, friends, family and the church.

Christening is another word for Baptism. Some churches will use the word ‘baptism’ and some the word ‘christening’.

Anyone can get in touch with a church to find about having their child christened. You don't’ have to have been christened yourself, and you don't have to have been a regular churchgoer.

You have a right to be Christened in the parish church where you live.  If you are hoping for a Christening in a different church this is sometimes possible though in the first instance, you will need to contact you local vicar.
